Five, including political activist, killed in Karachi

KARACHI: Four people including an activist of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek (PST) were shot dead in different areas of the city on Saturday, police said.

According to details, an activist of PST was gunned down at his shop situated in Baber Market, Landhi area falling within the precincts of Landhi Police station.

Police official said the victim Muhammad Akber, 28, son of, Muhammad Chand was sitting in his flower shop where two armed riders accosted him and opened indiscriminate fire, leaving him critically injured. Soon after sustaining serious bullets wounds he died.

The body was brought to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy. The victim was the resident of sector-2 of Landhi area and owned a shop.Moments after his killing, panic gripped the locality and all business activities were closed Separately, a man was gunned down near sector 5 of Orangi Town within the limits of Orangi town police station.

SHO Tanveer Murad said that 25-year old Kashan, son of, Mehtab Siddique was going somewhere on his motorcycle when two armed pillion riders intercepted him and sprayed him with bullets and fled. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities. Official said one of the armed men was wearing helmet while his accomplice wore a hat cap.

The victim was the resident of sector-11 of Orangi Town and employee of a private company. Police have registered the FIR 312/2012 under section 302 against unidentified culprits on the complaint of victim's brother, Shadab.

In another incident, a man was killed in Sher Shah area within the limits of Sher Shah police station. According to police, the victim, Haji Noor Muhammad, 52, son of Nuran Saif, was going to work and when he reached near Shar Shah Kanta, armed bandits waylaid him for mugging.

Upon showing resistance, bandits shot him dead, looted all his valuables and escaped.The body was brought to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).Meanwhile, a shot dead body of a man was found from Officers colony within the limits of Nabi Bux police station. SHO Abid Hussain shah said that unidentified armed culprits shot multiple bullets and threw his body near bungalow no D-41 of the Officers colony and escaped. He added that victim appears to be 25-year-old. The body was shifted to the CHK for medico-legal formalities. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained as yet.

Criminal killed: A wanted criminal was shot dead near Dadex factory situated in Manghopir area within the limits of Manghhopir police station.SHO Nasir Mehmood said that the victim, Faisal, 35, son of Ghulam Rasool, was standing near the factory when his altercation with another person occurred on some dispute. The unidentified man shot him dead and escaped.

The body was shifted to ASH for postmortem. The victim was the resident of the same are and nominated in various heinous crime under an FIR no 302, 324, 7 ATA. Expecting woman dies: A woman was died while her husband sustained burnt injuries when a mysterious fire erupted in a makeshift houses in Mehran Town within the limits of Korangi Industrial Area Police StationSHO Malik Naeem said that the victim 20-year-old Maryam, w/o Muhammad Naeem 37, received burnt injuries when a mysterious fire broke out in makeshift houses at around 3:35 a.m.

Both of them were rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment where Marium succumbed to her injuries while Naeem after getting initial treatment was shifted to Burns ward of CHK. Soon after receiving the information, fire fighter rushed at the scene and doused the fire after over 30 minutes. SHO informed that there were eight makeshift settlements and the fire spread to only three of them. While Naeem sustained 40 percent burn injuries. The victim and injured were belonged to Bengali community and had married a year ago.
