Finance Minister Hafeez Sheikh not resigned

ISLAMABAD: Spokesperson in the Finance Ministry, Asad Amin rejected the news regarding Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh's resignation and said that Sheikh did not resign from his office.

The spokesperson said that Hafeez Sheikh is performing his duties as the Finance Minister and today (Monday) Sheikh would preside over a high-level meeting at the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR).

Earlier, media reported that Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh has resigned from his post on Sunday, media reports.

Reports say it is expected that after his resignation Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh would be given an important post in the caretaker government as a Prime Minister before the general elections.
