Farah residents demand standard power supply
15 October, 2012
KANDAHAR: the residents of Farah province on Sunday complained the non-availability of standard power supply. The residents said the government should take efforts to provide standard electricity to the people because the province was abundant in natural resources. An area resident told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) the non-availability of standard power supply had multiplied their problems. "Farah should be given standard power supply like neighbouring Herat and Nimroz provinces," he demanded. The authorities concerned, however, say they had to generate power through electricity generators. The governor's spokesman Abdul Rahman Zhwandi told the AIP the people were confronted with problems due to non-availability of standard power supply. He, however, added they were making all-out efforts to address the issue. He said the Ministry of Water and Power would soon discuss the issue without neighbouring provinces. End.
