'External elements' behind church attack: JI
23 September, 2013
KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami held 'external hands' responsible for the attack at a church in Peshawar on Sunday. In a statement, the JI said that anti-Islam powers want to destabilise the country by igniting Muslim-Christian riots.
JI stands shoulder to shoulder with Christian Community in this critical time, said the statement. Interim JI Karachi Chief Prof Nizamuddin Memon and in charge JI Minority Wing Muslim Pervez strongly condemned Peshawar Church attacks and termed it an 'anti-human act'. In their joint statement, both the leaders said that Islam teaches the lesson of peace, tranquillity and affection, and not terrorism.
They appealed the Christian Community to remain calm and foil all 'terrorist conspiracies'. They demanded the chief minister Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa to conduct a transparent and impartial inquiry of the incident, and bring the criminals in the court of law. The JI also called for free treatment of the injured.
