25 March, 2017
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said that the Qatari letter was meant to cover up the money laundering by Sharif family.
"Everyone knows that the Qatari letter came to cover up the money laundering," Imran told journalists in Lahore on Friday.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif thought that the letter will save him the same way it saved him when the helicopter scandal surfaced, Imran said. He went on to add that the Qatari family was awarded a tender amounting to Rs 200 billion [by Sharifs] without the due process of bidding. It is also a matter of fact, Imran maintained, that Sharif family had admitted that the Qatari family were their business partners.
The PTI chairman said that the nation awaits the verdict of Panama Papers case which will mark the beginning of a new era. "It is hoped that the verdict will be issued sometime next week. No powerful person is ever held accountable in the country," he added.
Imran also announced to move the court in the LNG case once the Panama Papers case is resolved. He accused the rulers of appointing their near and dear ones in the institutions.
