HERAT: Security forces arrested an employee of Herat governor's office on charges of spying for Iran, governor claimed. Addressing a press conference here on Friday Governor Dr. Daud Shah Saba said the alleged spy was handed over to National Directorate of Security (NDS), Afghan spy agency, for interrogation and more details would be released after completion of investigations. The governor did not give identity of the alleged spy, but a high ranking government official who wished not to be named identified the detained man as Yousaf Azizi. He told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) that Yousaf Azizi was held a few days ago long with a laptop computer in the border Islam Qala area on Iran-Afghanistan border. The data recovered from the laptop suggested that he was spying for Iran and the information was being passed to Iran, he added. It is said that the detained man occupied key posts in the governor's office during the past five years. End.
