Eight more lose life in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Eight people, including a woman, lost life in separate acts of violence here on Monday.

In the first incident, a man associated with Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) was shot dead at an inquiry office, Nazimabad within the precincts of Rizvia police station.

A police official said that 30-year-old man, Qamber Naqvi, son of Younus Naqvi was shot dead by unidentified armed men. Naqvi received multiple bullet wounds, while assailants managed to flee. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.

Police said that deceased was the father of a child and lived in Jafferia Colony, Gulbahar. He said that the victim used to run a shop in mobile market at Sakhi Hassan area. Elder brother of deceased Salman Naqvi was also killed in same manner a couple of months ago. Owing to the affiliation of deceased with MWM, police were suspecting the killing occurred on sectarian basis. After the incident, a heavy contingent of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) was deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.

A man was killed at Bengali Morr area within the jurisdiction of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station. Police said that Zahid, 30, son of Nazeer, was on his way to home after closure of his shop in the same area when at least two armed men riding a motorcycle shot him dead. His body was taken to ASH for an autopsy.

According to police, the deceased used to run a general store and was residing in Nazimabad area. Police said that the victim had no affiliation with any political or religious party, while motive behind the killing could not be ascertained yet.

A man was gunned down at Bawani Chali, SITE within the limits of SITE-A police station. Police said that Anwar Hussain, 41, son of Sharafat Hussain, was shot dead by unidentified armed riders when he was returning home from a local factory. His body was brought to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities. The deceased was Bengali national and resident of Madina colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

A woman was gunned down over alleged illicit relations at North Nazimabad within the limits of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station. SHO Raja Tariq said that 27-year-old woman, Saima, wife of Khalid, was found dead from inside her house. He said the victim's husband, namely Khalid, in his statement to the police said that he tied knot with Saima some six months ago and believed that his wife had an illicit relation with someone. Police have arrested the accused and registered a murder case against him.

The body of a young man was found from Furniture Market within Aram Bagh police remits. Police officials said that the victim's hands and legs were tied with a rope and was shot multiple times. They said that unidentified armed men after kidnapping and executing the victim threw his body at an abandon place. The body was moved to morgue for identification after medico-legal formalities at Civil Hospital, Karachi.

Another man was found dead in a gunny bag in North Nazimabad within the limits of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station. The body was taken to the ASH where the victim was identified as Javed Khan, 22. Police officials said that deceased was labourer by profession and was residing in the same area. Police further said that the deceased was kidnapped four days ago, while police suspected that he might have been killed over personal enmity.

The body of an elder man, namely Munawar, 60, was found from his house within Malir City police station remits. Police officials said that the victim's hands and legs were tied with a rope and he was tortured to death. Police officials said that deceased was the retired employee of the shipping corporation and apparently, he was killed over personal enmity.

Meanwhile, a worker of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat died during treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital on Monday. Police officials said that deceased was injured in a targeted attack at his shop in Orangi Town on Friday.
