Eat oats for healthy heart

16 January, 2013

ISLAMABAD: Eating food items containing oats can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, US scientists have reiterated.

Oats are already known to have cholesterol-lowering properties. Many previous studies have shown that consumption of three or more servings of whole-grains per day is associated with reduction in risk for cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity.

Researchers Mark B. Andon and James W. Anderson have said in an article in the latest issue of the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine that oats, oat bran and oat flour can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.

End.
