ECP rules out delay in by-polls

ISLAMABAD: Setting aside concerns regarding security and floods, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) decided on Monday to hold by-polls as per schedule on August 22.
Election Commission Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed also said that army personnel would be deployed at polling stations designated as "sensitive" and "most sensitive".
Addressing a press conference, the secretary said that personnel of armed forces would be deployed at 4,526 polling stations of 42 constituencies in the country. He further elaborated that the armed forces personnel would be stationed outside 2,686 polling stations declared "sensitive" and they would be deployed inside and outside 1,659 polling stations declared "most sensitive".
Ishtiaq said that the by-polls could not be delayed over security or flood-related concerns in any of the 42 constituencies.
