EC announces by-polls schedule

LAHORE: The Election Commission of Punjab on Friday announced the schedule of by-polls in seven national and provincial constituencies against the vacant seats of parliamentarians disqualified for holding dual nationalities.

The schedule was finalised by Provincial Election Commissioner Chief Justice (r) Mehboob Anwar during the visit of ECP chief to the provincial office.

According to the schedule, the by-elections would be held on October 17, while the nomination papers of candidates for the by-elections on all seven constituencies would be filed on October 8 and 9.

Nomination papers of the candidates would be scrutinised on October 10 and 11.

The constituencies where the by-elections are to take place include NA-107 Gujrat-IV, NA-162 Sahiwal-III, PP-26 Jhelum-III, PP-122 Sialkot-II, PP-144 Lahore-VIII and PP-92 Gujranwala-II.
