Dr Afridi not safe in Peshawar Jail: Iftikhar Hussain

30 June, 2012

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Iftikhar Hussain on Friday, once again urged the federal government to shift detained Dr Shakeel Afridi to any other province owing to security threats to his life in Peshawar Central Jail.

Talking to newsmen, the provincial minister said that the federal government should shift its prisoner from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Bannu jail-like attacks could occur in other jails of the province. He said that there was a serious threat of attack on Peshawar jail due to Shakeel Afridi's incarceration there.

The minister expressed grave concern over terrorist attacks on security forces from Afghanistan. He alleged that the forces have failed to eliminate terrorism in Afghanistan.

End.
