Dozen more killed as violence rages on in Karachi

KARACHI: At least 12 more people, including two Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activists and a cop, were gunned down in target killing incidents that took place in the city on Wednesday.

Twenty nine-year-old Zafar Ahmed was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Gulbahar Area near Golimar. The deceased was a worker of MQM Unit 189.

In another incident, Meher Ali, 28, an activist of MQM Karachi Muzafati Organising Committee (KMOC) was gunned down by unknown armed assailants in Bilal Colony, Korangi. Police Constable Muhammad Mithal was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near Gulshan-e-Maymar, Sohrab Goth.

Khalid Punjabi, 32, was targeted by unknown armed men near Fawara Chowk within the jurisdiction of Garden police station. Naeem Ahmed, 30, was shot dead by unknown armed motorcyclists near Faqeer Colony, Orangi Town. Babar Shahzad, 30, was gunned down by unidentified gunmen on Mirza Adam Khan Road, Lyari.

Moreover, a tortured body, tied with ropes, was found from Pak Colony area. The deceased was identified as Faizan, 28.

A man was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in SITE Industrial area. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till filing of this report. Meanwhile, a bullet-riddled body was found from the vicinity of Metro Cinema, Banaras. Nadir Hussain, 30, was gunned down by unknown armed assailants in Gulberg No 17. After the incident, angry mob resorted to aerial firing, which created panic in the area.

In addition, Jameel, 35, was targeted by unidentified culprits in Dalmia. A woman was gunned down by unknown armed assailants in Landhi No 2. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till filing of this report.
