Donating blood... By Aleem

14 February, 2014

Blood donation is considered a noble cause. Blood is usually donated to save others' lives and no moral code, religion or value system could preach to its followers otherwise. Unfortunately, a majority of the people believe it to be a dangerous practice. They consider it unhealthy, detrimental to health, contagious, etc. The reality though is different from these unfounded fears. Donating blood makes one psychically fit, decreases the chances of heart attack by 88 percent, reduces fat instantly, creates new blood cells, and makes the immune system stronger. Pakistan could be one of the top countries among charity donating nations, but its graph among blood donating countries is much lower. The best way to alleviate fear about blood donation is to teach people its benefits in schools and engage them in blood donation practice through observing blood donation day.
