District police chief among 4 killed in blast

MAZAR-E-SHARIF: A district police chief and his three companions were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in struck an improvised explosive device in Kishandeh district of Balkh province on Thursday.

An IED ripped through the vehicle of police chief of Kishandeh district, Nasir Khan, in Chehla Tao area, the Balkh police spokesman Sher Jan Durrani told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).

He said the Kishandeh district police crime branch in-charge Dilbar Jan was injured in the bombing.

Sources told the AIP that all the deceased were police personnel.

Meanwhile, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast and their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told the the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) that the police chief, Nasir Khan, crime branch in-charge, Dilbar Jan, and three more policemen were killed in the bombing.
