'Dejected' girl commits suicide; 5 others die in mishaps

LAHORE: Six persons died in separate mishaps including a girl, warned by her parents over some issue, committed suicide on Tuesday.
A man committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in Wahdat Colony police limits on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Wasif Ali, a resident of Clifton Ghatti Wahdat Colony. It was discovered that Wasif locked up in a room at Sehri time and hanged himself to death.
The reason behind the suicide could not be ascertained, however his relative said the victim was depressed over some monetary issue and he did not fulfil demands of his family for Eid. Police handed over the body to the family after completion of medico-legal formalities.
Similarly, a 25-year-old girl ended her life by consuming poisonous pills in Ichhara police area. The deceased was identified as Aysha, daughter of Iftikhar of Shah Jamal Road Ichhara. Police said the victim locked herself in a room and swallowed poisonous pills. His family barged into the room after information and immediately took her to a nearby hospital where she expired. Police said that the girl had committed suicide after being admonished by her parents over an unknown issue.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old youth shot his former employee to death in the limits of Chung police and attempted to show murder a robbery bid. Police said the accused identified as Mukhtar Gujjar had a grudge against victim, Sabar Hussain, of Okara who left his job and started working somewhere else. Mukhtar called Sabar at his place and shot him to death. Later, the accused tried to mislead the police by giving an impression as Sabar was killed by the robbers on resistance.
Police registered a case of murder against him on complaint of victim's father Sharif and shifted the body to mortuary for autopsy. Separately, a 20-year-old youth was killed by a reckless driver of a car within the precincts of Sabzazar police.
The victim was identified as Faryad, resident of main bazaar Saadpur. Police said the victim was crossing main Multan Road near Saadpur Stop when an unknown speedy car hit him and rode away. The injured was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police handed over the body to his family after legal procedure. Also, a WAPDA employee electrocuted while repairing z wire in Sanda police area.
The deceased was identified as Rakha Masih, resident of Islampura. According to an official of Rescue 1122, the victim climbed up an electric pole to repair a wire when he accidentally touched another live wire as a and fell down as a shock. Some locals rushed him to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Separately, a motorcyclist was killed by speeding car in Defence A police area.
Police said the deceased was yet to be identified. He was on his way on a bike when a speeding car hit him. As a result, the bike rider received severe injuries and succumbed to it. Police registered a case against car driver, Muhammad Riaz, and shifted the body to morgue.
