Deficit stricken, paralyzed Pakistan handed over to us: Sherry

KARACHI: Information minister Sherry Rehman has said incumbent government has been handed over deficit torn and paralyzed Pakistan.
Information Minister was addressing a press conference here Wednesday. She held 100-day plan was not a sheer paper plan and it would be implemented in letter and spirit. In this respect strict directives have been issued, she added.
"We are popular government and our problems are also enormous. People have also high hopes from us ", she remarked.
Country was facing a range of crisis including atta, electricity and economic crisis, she said adding power crisis had jammed wheels of economy. Industry is shut down and people are not getting jobs, she remarked.
She said that PPP co chairman Asif Ali Zardari wants national reconciliation and that is why he is holding talks with MQM however no decision has yet been made on their inclusion in the government. She said that all talks with MQM are being held with the due consultation of all allied parties
Asif Ali Zardari has led the party out of hard times , she maintained. PPP politics focuses on strengthening all political units, she added. 1973 constitution is symbol of federation and it was keeping the whole country united, she added.
PPP is the only party in the country which has representation in all the four provinces, she told. PPP is symbol of federation, she added. Benazir Bhutto is still alive as her ideology, vision, flag and leadership was still with us, she underlined.
Apologizing for the incident at Karachi airport with journalists she said that it was an unfortunate incident and the government wants cooperation of media as media is an institution, which identifies all positive and negative aspects of the government and holds them accountable. She added that a summary on Pemra black law has been forwarded to the law ministry
She said that the new government believes in the supremacy of parliament and independent judiciary.
