DHA bans shisha... By Abdullah
28 January, 2013
According to reports, the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Karachi has decided to impose a ban on shisha smoking in all cafés and eateries within its jurisdiction. Apparently, parents and other such authority figures were getting riled up on how easily shisha was available throughout trendy cafés frequented by youngsters. The DHA authorities took note of this and have acted upon the concerns of the complainants by completely banning shisha from their menus. I have just one thing to say: what are the young and restless supposed to do in this country? There are no hip clubs, discothèques or even open spaces where both sexes can mingle and just get an opportunity to enjoy life. Why have we decided to make life so colourless for these young people? Why have we given them such few outlets and hangout spots that the biggest highlight of their meaningful lives is inhaling addictive smoke? If DHA has banned shisha, then it ought to open some more recreational activities for the youth. ABDULLAH IJAZ
