Criminals' bid to abduct woman foiled

KARACHI: An abduction bid of family was foiled by intervention of a security guard at Hyper Star Shopping Mall in Clifton area within the precincts of Boat Basin police station. SP Clifton Naisr Aftab while talking to media men at the site said that at least four armed abductors, including a girl, tired to abduct a woman along with her 23-year-old daughter and two-year-old minor girl from the parking area of multi-storey shopping mall. He elaborated that the family was heading towards their vehicle after shopping from the mall when four unidentified abductors attempted to kidnap them at gunpoint. However, the security guard, Ghulam Hussain, rushed to the site and on his intervention the armed culprits opened fire on him. As a result, Hussain and their targets received an injury. The officer informed that following the incident, the abductor tried to flee in their vehicle, but the parking door was closed and they rammed their vehicle into the door, resultantly, the door got open, while the car, bearing registration No AFR-12012, Government of Pakistan, also damaged. He further stated that the culprits later took another car from the plaza and fled. The officer told reporters the woman had sustained bullet in her leg. According to sources, the woman is a wife of senior law enforcement officer. End.
