QUETTA: The district and sessions court on Tuesday ordered authorities concerned to produce before the court illegal weapons and vehicles seized from Jamhoori Watan Party leader Shahzain Bugti.

Additional and Sessions Judge Syed Zulfiqar Hasnain Naqvi issued the order while hearing the weapons recovery case. The court also summoned another two prosecution witnesses.

During the hearing, the court recorded statement of Assistant Sub-inspector Muhammad Ashraf. Earlier, Shahzain Bugti was brought to the court amidst tight security and a large number of workers of the JWP were present on the court premises. They showered him with rose petals and shouted slogans in his favour.

Talking to reporters, Shahzain Bugti said that he was innocent and had nothing to do with the weapons.

Shahzain and his 26 companions were arrested in April this year after the Supreme Court cancelled their bail granted by the Balochistan High Court. They were arrested by the Frontier Corps on December 22, 2010 at Baleli Checkpost in Quetta for allegedly smuggling weapons. Shahzain had described the arrest as a conspiracy of security agencies to stop him from going back to Dera Bugti.

End.
