Couple among four killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Four people, including a couple, were killed in separate acts of violence in the metropolis on Monday.
Two brutally tortured bodies of a man and a girl were found from Khyber Mohalla in Bavani Chali within the limits of Site A police station. Police said the victims appeared to be in their mid-twenties and were Pakhtoons. Their identity was yet to be ascertained.
SP Shahjahan said the male victim was strangulated before he was cut into more than a half dozen pieces, while the girl was also strangled. He suspected that they might have been murdered on account of honour killing.
The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for autopsies. MLO CHK Qarar Abbasi said the male victim was strangulated while the female lost her life because of suffocation. No case was registered till filing this report.
In another incident, a cop was shot dead in Alamgir Market near Bara Maida within the limits of North Nazimabad police station. Victim Ghulam Mohammad, 27, son of Ghulam Ali, was the resident of Block Q, North Nazimabad. He was going on his motorcycle when two armed men riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire on him near Bara Maidan, Paposh Nagar, resultantly he received three bullets and died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico legal formalities.
Paposh Nagar check-post Incharge Asim Siddiqui said initially police suspected that sectarian killing was the motive behind the murder. The victim hailed from Gilgit Baltistan. No case was registered till filing the report.
Separately, police found body of a teenager boy from Mawatch Goth within the jurisdiction of Mauripur police station. The victim was later identified as 17-year-old Shahzaib Baloch, son of Abdul Razzak Baloch, resident of Ali Mohammad Mohalla, Baghdadi Lyari. A police official said the victim's hands and legs were tied with ropes and had received two bullets in his head. They said the victim was missing from Jan 14 and was the student of class 9th.
Police said Lyari gang warfare was the motive behind the murder. The body was shifted to CHK for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to his family.
