Corruption, price hike only achievement of Zardari: Shahbaz

02 March, 2013

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the only 'achievement' of Zardari, his government and cronies during the last five years is ruthless corruption and massive price-hike.

This was stated by him during his presidential address at the concluding session of the annual conference of Naziria-e-Pakistan Trust at Aiwan-e-Karkunan-e-Tehrik-e-Pakistan, here today.

He said the 'gifts' of corruption, price-hike, load shedding, poverty and unemployment given by the federal government during its tenure will always be remembered by the masses.

He said the rulers of Islamabad are shamelessly engaged in corruption and loot whereas Punjab government has promoted a corruption-free culture in the province.

He said Punjab government has written a new history by signing an agreement with Transparency International Pakistan to judge the transparency of projects worth more than Rs. 36 billion.

He said this agreement was not a legal obligation of the provincial government but it decided to do so as it considered it its moral responsibility. He said that he has presented himself for accountability as Khadim-e-Punjab and he is ready to face any punishment if corruption of even a single penny is proved against him.

He said that the puppet organization of federal government, NAB has also not been able to bring forward any evidence of corruption against him. He said the country is heading towards general elections and people should get rid of Zar Baba Forty Thieves.

He said in spite of all problems and challenges, the eighteen crore people of the country from Peshawar to Karachi will have to elect such a leadership that in the past gave excellent economic projects and made the country a nuclear power.

He said poverty is not the destiny of the nation and if an opportunity was given to Pakistan Muslim League-N, led by Nawaz Sharif, the darkness will be removed while all problems and crises will be resolved and Pakistan will be made an Islamic welfare state in the real sense. The Chief Minister announced regularization of the services of all contract employees from grade 1 to 16 in the province.

He said that he is very happy to attend annual Nazirya-e-Pakistan Conference in which he is participating not as a guest but as the host. He said that Majid Nizami and his team are rendering invaluable services to promote awareness about Pakistan ideology and two-nation theory among the new generation for which they are being blessed by Allah Almighty.

He said that Punjab government has always extended cooperation for this purpose and will continue to do so in future as well. He said that Pakistan was created after a historic struggle of the Muslims of the subcontinent under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah so that people could have equal opportunities of justice, employment and progress but unfortunately during the last 65 years the poor and common man have remained deprived of even the basic amenities.

He said that Pakistan of the Quaid is divided into that of the rich and the poor. He said that rich classes have all facilities and privileges whereas the poor are denied even education, health and basic facilities. He said that if the destiny of the country is to be changed, loot and plunder is to be brought to an end, education, health and employment opportunities are to be made available to the masses and Pakistan is to be transformed in accordance with the vision of the fo

Chairman of Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust Majid Nizami while addressing the function thanked Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for his participation and said that Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust is apprising the young generation of Pakistan Movement and two-nation theory. He said that the country can be strengthened by whole heartedly believing in and safeguarding the two-nation theory. Later, Majid Nizami presented a shield to Shahbaz Sharif while a Sindhi guest presented Sindhi Ajrak to the Chief Minister.

End.
