Constitutional amendment for dual nationals soon, promises Nawaz

WASHINGTON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday night revealed he will bring a constitutional amendment to remove all barriers currently being faced by dual citizens in playing a positive role for the country.
"I will amend all the laws and even bring a constitutional amendment to remove these hurdles. I consider all dual nationals or even those with triple nationalities as loyal and honest Pakistanis," he told a gathering of Pakistanis, mainly the PML-N supporters but also with some odd participants as well, including former PPP senator Akbar Khawaja and PPP Washington DC chapter president Dr Manzur.
Nawaz Sharif said the overseas Pakistanis had to play an important role in the development of their country and they should not be treated badly. "We will restore your honour and dignity," he promised.
The PM also asked the Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan, individually and collectively in major projects arguing that if they started their projects now, by the time these projects were on their feet, the law and order and economic situation would have improved to give them quick dividends.
Dual nationals have been having a bad time in Pakistan as many had to resign from ministries and assemblies. Recently, an adviser of the Punjab chief minister had to quit and leave for Canada.
