Consensus essential for dialogue with Taliban: Fazl
26 August, 2013
ISLAMABAD: Jamita Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that consensus of political and military leadership was essential for dialogue with Taliban and other critical issues facing the country.
Talking to journalists from D.I. Khan at his residence on Sunday, the JUI-F chief said it was a hard fact that political forces were in agreement to enter into dialogue with Taliban.
However, he said if the military leadership wanted for some other option than dialogue, it would have to satisfy the political leadership for that purpose.
He said at present there were different viewpoints of political forces and defence establishment and they needed to be brought in agreement for a joint stand.
He warned that sectarianism was once again fuelling which had already claimed lives of hundreds of people.
He said the country could afford more sectarian clashes and the religio-political leadership would have to play its role.
The JUI-F leader said Punjab and federal government should take serious notice of incidents in Bhakkar and Islamabad to prevent such incidents to be recurred in future.
