Concrete measures on Afghan, Iran border for peace: Crocker

QUETTA: Ryan C Crocker the outgoing US Ambassador on Monday appreciating Pakistan's steps regarding curbing terrorism stressed the need of concrete measures on the Pak-Iran and Pak-Afghan border so as to counter those interrupting peace.
Talking to journalists at the inaugural ceremony of the $ 8million worth Parliamentary Information Technology Resource Center at the Balochistan Assembly the US Envoy said there is no Taliban center in Quetta. We have already rejected the reports aired on media.
Speaker Balochistan Assembly Jamal Shah Kakar, provincial ministers Maulana Faizullah, Maulana Noor Muhammad, member provincial assembly Abdul Rahim were also present on the occasion.
Ryan C Crocker said that Pakistan has always played front line role in curbing terrorism. He said that the overall situation in Afghanistan is improving and all out, measures are being taken. There is a need for joint efforts for doing away with those disrupting peace. Democracy in Pakistan is consolidated and I cannot comment much on the internal affairs of the country.
Earlier, he inaugurated the Parliamentary Information Technology Resource Center. He said that process of cooperation will continue for the uplift of parliament, agri growth and economic activities.
The US has provided $30 million for primary and secondary education whereas $6 million for agriculture development in the province. Through Khushali Bank small industries are thriving at the national level. He told that the project that is being inaugurated was agreed at in 2005.
Speaker Balochistan Assembly Jamal Shah Kakar in his address said Balochistan is territorially the most significant province of Pakistan where nationalists and MMA has been able to form coalition governments. Here all elected representatives are people carrying ideology and are working together for the uplift of Parliament. They keep a watchful eye at the global happenings. There is complete freedom of speech in the country. There is women representation in Balochistan.
Provincial member Rahim Zayar maintained that steps towards the betterment of Parliament and democracy are positive measures.
Later the US Ambassador had a fifteen minute meeting with the Speaker Balochistan Assembly Jamal Shah Kakar in his chambers and discussed issues of bilateral interests.
