ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said government committed to holding free and fair elections and he would consult the opposition leader Ch Nisar for the caretaker setup soon

He said this while talking to Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs‚ Farooq H. Naek in Islamabad Thursday

The prime minister said democracy cannot flourish without free and fair election. He said it is our responsibility and commitment to ensure that elections are transparently held and the people of Pakistan choose their representatives in a free environment.

He said that the caretaker prime minister will be appointed in accordance with the Constitution. He said he would consult the opposition leader in the National Assembly for the care taker premier soon.

Federal Minister Farooq H. Naek briefed the prime minister about the issues including appointment of a caretaker prime minister and the coming general election. He also updated the prime minister on Supreme Court's decision on Tahirul Qadri's petition.
