Carte blanche... By Mubashar

09 January, 2014

Never in our wildest dreams would we have thought that Gen (r) Musharraf, who used to beat the drums of his bravery, would show such timidity over his trial on treason charges. The former military dictator is skilfully playing hide and seek with the state of Pakistan. He could not appear in the court twice owing to security risks. But on Wednesday he was removed to Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology due to chest pain. It seems that the former president is shying away from court.

Bilawal Bhutto has very aptly said that an independent team of cardiologists should examine Musharraf and the report of the severity of his ailment should be presented to the trial court. In the meanwhile, there are heavy rumours that preparations are afoot to give safe passage to the dictator. If that happens, we will be giving carte blanche to future adventurists.
