SHANGHAI: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday emphasised on the wide-reaching importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) saying that the project will open avenues for improved connections between Pakistan, China, Middle East and the Gulf states.

PM Khan said the above while addressing the China International Import Expo in Shanghai. “The CPEC will be mutually beneficial for both Pakistan and China economically and trade wise. Not only that, it will also connect the two countries with the Middle East and Gulf states.”

He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s motto is ‘naya Pakistan’ and that the party was working day and night to achieve its goals. He added that corruption and poverty free Pakistan was PTI’s priority and that the country must learn from China on how to tackle the two major problems. Khan continued that the current government was putting more emphasis on technology.

The premier said that Pakistan was an ideal country for business and investment. “There are 100 million individuals under the age of 35, which means Pakistan has a large workforce and is an ideal place for business and investment.”

On his turn to speak, Chinese President Xi Jingping said that digital technologies and artificial intelligence has revolutionised the world and that China was working towards improving relations with the rest of the world and being part of the revolutionsed world.
