RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani visited forward locations in Gilgit-Baltistan on Wednesday to celebrate Eid with troops.

Kayani also visited Gayari to meet troops committed in the recovery operation, which started as a relief and rescue effort, immediately after an avalanche that killed around 139 soldiers from the Northern Light Infantry Battalion along with six civilians on April 7 in Gayari Sector near Skardu.

The mission has not stopped for a single day despite severe terrain and climatic conditions.

Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani visited forward locations in South Waziristan on Tuesday and celebrated Eid with the troops.

While interacting with troops, COAS praised them for their courage and valour. He said that discipline, sense of duty and sacrifice are the hallmarks of a soldier. The soldiers' reward lies in enabling the nation to celebrate Eidul Fitr in safe and secure environments, he added.

End.
