CJP Iftikhar detaches himself from Bahria Town cases

23 June, 2012

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary detached himself from the hearing of all the cases in which Bahria Town was a party.

The chief justice issued an order in that regard on Friday, while heading a three-member bench of the Supreme Court.

According to the order, the Supreme Court was hearing the contempt of court case against Malik Riaz, who had levelled charges against the judiciary and the chief justice, owing to which the chief justice would no more be hearing the cases of Bahria Town.

After this, the court adjourned hearing of the case regarding the murder of a Bahria Town security guard until June 25.

End.
