Boy shot dead by gang leader for 'honour'

LAHORE: An 18-year-old youth was shot dead by his gang leader in the name of "honour", in the jurisdiction of Harbanspura police, while three other people were killed in different incidents across the city on Thursday.
The deceased youth was identified as Raza and he hailed from Karachi. Police investigators said that the accused, Nomi, a resident of Pir Naseer Colony, Harbanspura, made a gang in jail, of which Raza was a member. The gang was involved in different criminal activities.
He said that after being released from jail they took residence in Harbanspura and restarted their criminal activities. Meanwhile, Raza allegedly developed illicit relations with ring leader Nomi's sister.
On the day of the incident, Raza was on his way along with Nomi's sister on a bike, but they were intercepted by Nomi and his accomplices who shot and wounded him. Raza was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police shifted the dead body to city mortuary for autopsy and arrested Nomi's sister and shifted her to Ladies Race Course Police Station for investigation. Police had not registered a case till the filing of this report.
In another incident, a 26-year-old private security guard was electrocuted in the Nawab Town police area. The deceased was identified as Anwar Habib and belonged to Mansehra.
According to an official of Rescue 1122 the victim was a security guard at a beverage factory. He was on the factory roof where he accidentally touched the main electric wire and received a severe shock.
He was moved to hospital where he expired. Police has handed over the dead body to the heirs after fulfilling the legal formalities.
Also, a 10-year-old youth died while doing a wheelie in Nishtar Colony Police limits. The deceased was identified as Arif Masih. He was performing the stunt near the main Ferozepur Road when his motorbike collided with another bike.
As a result, both the riders fell off their bikes and received serious and multiple injuries. They were take to a nearby hospital where Masih expired, while the condition of the other man was said to be out of danger.
Police handed over the dead body to the victims' family after completing legal formalities. A 22-year-old youth was run over by a speeding vehicle in Township Police Station limits. The deceased was identified as Waqas, a resident of Main Bazaar of Township. Police said that the victim was on his way on his bike when a speeding vehicle hit him.
