KARACHI: A bomber blew himself, injuring two policemen, when law enforcers cornered him during a raid in the Rafa-e-Aam Shamsi Society in Malir on Sunday. Police, Rangers and personnel of intelligence agencies raided a residential building in Malir where the suicide bomber, identified as Farhan alias Pehlwan, had stashed a huge amount of explosives. As the law enforcers entered the building to arrest him, he detonated the explosives.

The police and Rangers sealed off the entire area after the incident. Malir Senior Superintendent of Police Rao Anwar, who was leading the team, told the media that the bomber belonged to a group of wanted militants involved in attacks on top government and police officials. SSP Anwar said that Farhan’s criminal record would soon be released to the media after complete investigation. Meanwhile, the injured policemen were admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
