Boko Haram slaughters 40 students... By Masood

Amnesty International's report on Nigerian students quitting studies after the attacks, reveals an extremely grim picture. The jihadist militants are using religion for the expansion of their nefarious agendas. Nigeria's most feared gang, the Boko Haram, meaning 'Western education is a sin', has proudly claimed responsibility for attacking an agricultural college hostel and slaughtering 40 students in their beds. It is so unfortunate to watch such gangs winning their war on tolerance, education and civilisation. Thousands of teachers and students are abandoning teaching and studies to save their lives. Since 2011, Boko Haram has not only slaughtered thousands of teachers and students, but has also destroyed school buildings, teaching material and equipment. It cannot be expected of the Nigerian army to guard each and every school.
Boko Haram appears to be worse than even the Afghan and Pakistani Taliban who are against girls' education. In line with the tradition of their brethren in Nigeria, the Taliban also go for the destruction of girls' schools, poisoning of school supplies and other such measures to keep girls away from education. Whether these militants belong to the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan, or Al-Shabab in Somalia, or al Qaeda in Yemen, Mali or North Africa, they all justify their actions per deviant religious teachings and consider themselves to be on the righteous path. If they change their stance it will leave them in an ideological wilderness. When some Pakistani politicians keep insisting upon opening peace talks with the militants, they forget that they cannot defeat an ideological movement. The only solution is to completely eliminate it.
