Blasphemy... By Dr. Mobeena

The muslim world is in an uproar over the low budget anti-islamic film, produced by a so-called Sam Bacille, and muslims all over the world have come out on the streets for mass demonstrations, with some people in every crowd trying to break into the US counsulate offices. The fact that the sentiments of muslims all over the world have been hurt, does not mean that we have to start destroying public and private property. We carry out protests, criticising all those who offend our religious sensibilities, failing to realise that it is our own actions as muslims that lead to such hurtful incidents in the first place. We claim to be pious people, following our religion to the extent that we know exactly the right length of beards our men should have, and how high their "shalwars" are supposed to be, the exact amount of sweets a person should eat before the Eid congregations. What we fail to realise is that religion teaches us much more than all of that, and we can not expect other religions of the world to respect ours, when we have no clue as to what our religion stands for, and especially not when we do not respect it ourselves.
