Balochistan LG minister passes away

QUETTA/ISLAMABAD: Balochistan Local Government Minister Abdul Khaliq Bashar passed away on Monday. He was elected in 2008 elections on PB-18 Zhob seat of on a Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Nazariati ticket. However, he defeated Muhammad Khan Sherani, a very powerful candidate of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl. He was the only elected member of his party in the Balochistan Assembly so he joined hands with the Awami National Party's (ANP) three-member group and became the local government minister. He met with a road accident two years back on his way to Zhob. He was paralysed and remained under treatment, but could not recover completely. He belonged to the village Yaqoob Zai of District Zhob. Separately, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Monday expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Abdul Khaliq. In his message, the premier conveyed his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the members of the bereaved family. He prayed that the departed soul rest in peace. The prime minister lauded the invaluable contribution of the late minister for strengthening of democracy in the country and well being of the people of Balochistan province. End.
