Authorities turning KU into hub of Congress politics: Shahid
09 October, 2012
Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, former President of Kashmir University Students Union, advocate Shahid-ul-Islam has said that the university authorities are converting seat of highest learning into hub of Congress politics in Kashmir.
Shahid-ul-Islam in a statement in Srinagar said that the current vice chancellor of the university had turned it into a Congress operational unit in order to change the mindset of the Kashmiri youth and strengthen the roots of the party in the territory.
"The authorities are promoting politics and bringing time and again Congress leaders to Kashmir University. This is an act to change the mindset of Kashmiri youth who are demanding freedom from India," he added.
He said that the Congress party Secretary General, Rahul Gandhi, during his recent visit should have talked about the fulfilment of the pledges made by his grandfather and India's first prime minister with the Kashmiris. "Instead he is asking youth to forget the past. It is a joke," he remarked.
Shahid-ul-Islam appreciated the students for protesting against the visit of Rahul Gandhi to the university.
