Asma Jahangir: a good candidate... By Hussain

08 February, 2013

I would like to asks Imran Khan Chairman of PTI, why he believes that Ms Asam Jahangir will not be a neutral caretaker Prime Minister? As she is not a member of any political party and in the past has been very critical of political parties' performance regarding human rights protection. She has been a leading preacher of democracy and never supported any military general's rule or their referendum. She is one of the few most respected Pakistanis known in the world for her dedication and commitment for gender equality. She believes in founder Quaid-i-Azam's ideology and is against all types of religious, extremisms, and terrorism.

She is braver than many political leaders who don't have any clear stand against the Taliban. She is not a hypocrite like many political leaders, generals, and judges. I have my doubts that she will accept the office of caretaker Prime Minister. PML-N recommended her name because they know that she is the only one who will stand the pressure of military establishment and judiciary in case both decide to set up a care taker government for two three years. She will make sure that the elections are held on time.

Those who know her know that she has never compromised on her principals. She is against the status quo and wants woman, who are 50 percent of the population of the country to have their due share in the state institutions and should have those rights which are enjoyed by the woman in civilized countries. Perhaps due to Mr. Hamid Khan who is prominent leader in PTI and old associate of Imran Khan and head of certain group of lawyers which was defeated by Asma Jahangir in the Supreme Court bar election has influenced Imran Khan's decision.
