rinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the continued arrest drive by the Indian police following Friday protests has potential to erupt the entire territory into flames.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar expressing serious concern over the arrest of youth from different areas of the Valley following massive protests against the blasphemous film, demanded their immediate release.
"This is an extremely serious and sensitive matter because it has direct bearing with the peoples' religious sentiments. By continuing its arrest drive the police is playing a dreadful game. For it has potential to erupt the whole Kashmir into flames," he added.
The veteran leader said that the youth who actively participated in Friday protests and demonstrated their love and devotion for the Holy Prophet (SAW) in Srinagar, Islamabad town and Baramulla were being arrested one by one by the police.
"The police had made video films of these demonstrations held on September 21, against the production and screening of the blasphemous film in United States. Now the police are raiding the houses of the youth," he said.
Syed Ali Gilani has appealed to the human rights organization to use their influence to ensure an immediate halt to the arrests and release of all the detained youth.
