Arms for peace 9th International Defence Exhibition started in karachi

KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Zakaullah and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman inaugurated the 9th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar IDEAS 2016 at Expo Centre on Tuesday. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, while addressing participants of the opening ceremony, said that Pakistan was committed to discouraging arms race in the region and pursues the motto of "Arms for peace".
Pakistan has achieved self-reliance in defense production. The display of a wide range of weapons and other equipment reflects the best outcome of joint efforts made by the country's public and private sectors. The PM further said that the state of the art defense products have been recognized by the international community and have been tested by the country's armed forces. Pakistan is becoming a producer of quality defence products rapidly. Foreign companies should come forward to establish business linkages with Pakistan.
He reiterated Pakistan's commitment for regional peace, saying that country was looking for ways to achieve peace and stability in the world particularly in the region. The business environment for foreign investment has been encouraging in the country in view of the improved law and order situation. "Incidents of terrorism have declined in the country," he added.
He said his government's commitment to further stabilise the country's economy were successful and that the effective policies of government have yielded results in the form of increased supplies of energy. "There will be no energy crisis in the country by the year 2018," he promised. The prime minister also visited the stalls of the IDEAS exhibition where a wide range of indigenously produced products have been displayed including Al-Khalid, JF-17 Thunder, Super Mushshak and K-8 aircraft, Fast Attack Craft Missile boats, armored personnel carriers and military hardware.
