Appeal to the High Commission of Canada... By Zahid

21 January, 2013

Your Excellency, one of your citizens, named Maulana Dr Tahirul Qadri, staged a sit in protest with thousands of his blind followers for five days in the capital city of Pakistan. Islamabad remained paralysed during this long protest, which caused a huge loss to businesses. The long march started from Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, and after a tedious and tiresome journey of two days, the crowd occupied the main area of Islamabad and took hostage the normal working life of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Your Excellency, the citizens of Rawalpindi and Islamabad faced many problems and challenges during these five days. As you know we are already facing a terrible threat from terrorists and a gathering of thousands for such a long time means challenging the peace and stability of Pakistan.

Due to this so-called democratic march, we lost a huge amount of revenue in business and trade. The citizens of the twin cities faced uncertainty because petrol pumps, CNG stations, public transport, educational institutes, commercial banks and money changers remaining closed during this time. The stock exchange of Pakistan collapsed due to this uncertainty, which cost the nation and its people billions. The unavailability of transport forced the majority of citizens in the twin cities to remain absent from their offices. Many daily wage workers were unable to earn their livelihood.

The interior minister of Pakistan warned Qadri before the start of this march that the Taliban made a threat to attack the long march. After this warning, the people went into a panic and feared a terrorist attack at any time. This caused too much mental torture. Demonstrators were sitting in front of parliament, which is very close to the red zone in Islamabad. Almost all the embassies are situated in a nearby area. During this whole episode, almost all foreign ambassadors and their staff remained concerned because of the possible threat. Your Excellency, in the above mentioned scenario, I request you to conduct an inquiry of this whole episode conducted by a Canadian citizen. Your citizen kept Pakistan hostage for five days, which is a crime. We further plead that knowledge about where this man got his funds of millions of dollars for this long march and his bullet proof container should be made public.
