Another operation... By Asim

One more operation clean up is on the cards for Karachi. To what extent the operation will be fruitful only time will tell. However, some ground realities indicate that the result will not be much different from the past because of the distrust among the stakeholders, political compromises and some other reasons. The blame game that has already started shows that like the past this operation will also become a cause of hatred among the different sections of society.
Some of the reasons of the unrest in Karachi are that the city is multi-ethnic and multi-lingual and therefore there is a constant conflict between these groups. Second, armed wings of political parties are at war to get the control of the whole city. Third, criminal groups have political support. Fourth, the easy availability of arms. Karachi is the economic engine of Pakistan, and a stable Karachi means a prosperous Pakistan. The operation can only be successful if it is free from political interference otherwise the bloodshed will continue.
