Another bank robbed of Rs 3.6 million

KARACHI: Armed robbers barged into a private bank situated in Block-A of North Nazimabad and get off with at least Rs3.6 million on Tuesday. The security guard deployed outside the bank has also gone missing after the bank heist. Police, in reaction, has detained his two brothers over the guard's suspected involvement in the robbery. Police said at least six armed men entered the bank premises who had worn shalwar, kameez. They first held hostage the security guard and customers on gunpoint. Later they entered into the cash counter and within the 15 minutes they collected the cash and rode away. The officer said robbers arrived at the bank in vehicle and motorcycle and culprits snatched weapon of security guard. "The robbers were communicating with each other in Pushto," he added. SSP North Nazimabad Khurram Waris, while talking to our sources elaborated that three security guards of a private security company was deployed at the bank, adding that one, Syed Kashif Ali fled among the robbers The officer went on to say that they also apprehended two of his brothers from his house situated in Frontier colony area. He informed that Kashif was deployed at the bank since March 15, adding he hailed from Peshawar. DSP Ali said that initial investigation suggested that robbers apparently belonged to a banned outfit.
