15 February, 2013
SHIKARPUR/LARKANA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Thursday asked the government to announce date for the upcoming general election as well as the caretaker set-up without any delay.
Nawaz told a public meeting in Shikarpur government has failed to bring peace in the financial hub of the country. Government's writ exists nowhere in Karachi and no body was happy from the situation, he said.
The PML-N chief said the people of Karachi were leading miserable lives due to bad law and order. He said the government was not giving employment to poor people. Nawaz pledged that he will put an end to corruption in Sindh once he comes into power. He said his government will establish peace in Balochistan and Karachi. "We have to end targeted killings and extortion in Karachi," he said, and added he will not betray people of Sindh.
Regarding peace offer by Taliban, Nawaz said the government should respond seriously to the initiative.
Nawaz told another rally in Naudero that President Asif Zardari's administration had failed to improve Sindh's condition in the past five years. He said those who had voted for the PPP had done so out of 'love', however, they were deprived from any positive change in their lives.
Nawaz said unemployment was at its peak in Sindh, adding that if work had been done on educational institutions, the province's youth would have had degrees in their hands.
The PML-N chief said his party had worked to serve the people in the past, adding if voted in again, it will work for public welfare tirelessly.
Nawaz pledged that if emerged victorious in the upcoming elections, his party will connect Larkana and Naudero through a motorway.
End.
