Ahmad Reza Maneka abandons PML-N, rejoins PML-Q

15 September, 2012

LAHORE: Former National Assembly member from Pakpattan Ahmad Raza Maneka on Friday rejoined the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) after announcing to join the PML-Nawaz (PML-N) a day before.

Reza with other political figures from Pakpattan, Mian Farooq Maneka and Peer Muhammad Shah Khagga, called on PML-Q leader and Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi and announced to rejoin the PML-Q.

During the meeting, former MNA Ahmad Raza Maneka, Mian Farooq Maneka and Peer Muhammad Shah Khagga exchanged views with Elahi and apprised him about problems of their constituencies and gave suggestions to solve them. Strategy regarding next general elections was also deliberated.

The deputy PM announced to give NA-165 constituency ticket to Mian Ahmad Raza Maneka, NA-164 to Peer Muhammad Shah Khagga and PP-227 to Mian Farooq Maneka. He said that names of remaining candidates from district Pakpattan would be announced shortly.

Reposing confidence in the PML-Q leadership, the three assured Elahi that they would make concerted efforts to make the party active. On September 13, Raza called on PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence and expressed complete trust in his leadership.

He was elected to the National Assembly in 2002 on a PML-Q ticket. He was defeated by PML-N candidate Salman Mohsin Gilani in 2008.

End.
