06 April, 2012

KABUL: Afghan police have killed four Taliban militants and captured 28 others over the past 24 hours during series of operations across the country, Interior Ministry said in a press release.

"During the operations, conducted in several provinces including the southern Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul and the eastern Nangarhar and Laghman provinces, four Taliban rebels have been killed, one injured and 28 others made captive," the press release said.

A number of arms and ammunitions, including 17 pistols and 19 anti-personnel and anti-vehicle mines were also seized, it said.

However, it did not say if there were any casualties on the police. Taliban militants have yet to make comment.

End.
