Aerial firing

Many Karachi residents celebrated the Pakistani team's qualifying for the T20 World Cup semi-finals at Five Star Chowrangi in the city. A huge fireworks display was also seen there, accompanied by aerial firing in different parts of Karachi. Fireworks are uplifting and awe-inspiring but aerial firing should be stopped. Aerial firing can be witnessed in various cities of Pakistan on joyous occasions like the night before Eid, Independence Day and on any day the Pakistan cricket team wins a match. This kind of celebration is responsible for many fatalities and injuries. I urge the relevant authorities to ban this act and for the media to discourage it loudly. MUBASHIR MAHMOOD
