About 700 check posts along Pak Afghan border to control smuggling

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Interior and attached departments had set up almost 700 check posts along the International Border (Pak Afghan) to control smuggling. "340 check posts at Pak Afghan, Pak Iran border by Frontier Corps Balochistan as well as 700 check posts set up by Frontier Corps KPK at western border" well placed sources told 'ONLINE' here on Saturday, adding that Nakas and foot patrolling had also been made effective. Sources said that concerned departments were having vigilant eye on unprecedented swell in smuggling of general goods, Iranian fuel and food items after de-activation of various check posts of Pakistan Coast Guards long the Coastal Highway/RCD Highway. Moreover, sources said that concerned departments had taken strict measures including erection of fence all along the eastern border, establishment of 518+156 x observations posts by Pakistan Rangers Punjab and Sindh. Sources added that custom authorities were checking thoroughly goods transported through trucks and as well as Samjhota Express Train at Wagha/Attari entry points to minimize volume of smuggled goods into the country.
