Abbottabad Commission given 30 days to submit report

ISLAMABAD: The Law Ministry, in a notification on Tuesday, has given a 30-day deadline to the Abbottabad Commission and asked it to complete inquiry and submit report to the federal government. According to details, the Law Ministry has issued a notification to the commission on Tuesday, asking to complete its investigation and submit the report on October 12. Abbottabad Commission was formed in the aftermath of May 2, 2011, US raid that killed al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden. It was tasked with ascertaining the full facts regarding the presence of bin Laden in Pakistan. The commission was also asked to investigate circumstances, facts regarding the US operation in Abbottabad on May 2, 2011, determine the nature, background, causes of lapses of authorities concerned and making consequential recommendations. The commission is headed by Justice (r) Javed Iqbal. End.
