ANP challenges KP Local Govt Act 2013 in PHC

15 December, 2013

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party has challenged the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act 2013 in the Peshawar High Court.

The writ petition filed by ANP Parliamentary Leader in the Provincial Assembly Sardar Hussain Babak demanded to restore old Union Council System instead of the Village Council. It also demanded to hold local bodies' elections in Union Council on party basis.

Under the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act‚ elections in Village Council would be held on non-party basis and in Tehsil and District Council level on party basis.

End.
