KABUL/HERAT: The Taliban and officials Monday claimed causing casualties to each other in various parts of the country. The Afghan National Army (ANA) and Afghan National Police (ANP) personnel conducted operation in Bakwa district of Farah province last night, killing five Taliban fighters and injuring seven more, the provincial police chief Brigadier Aaqa Noor Kaintoos told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP). The security forces and civilians did not suffer casualties, he added. Meanwhile, an interior ministry press release said the combined forces conducted operations in Nangarhar, Baghlan, Kandahar, Wardak and Helmand provinces over the past 24 hours. Six Taliban fighters were killed and seven more held in the offensives. The Taliban, however, rejected the statements as false and their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told the AIP their fighters conducted attacks on Afghan and foreign forces in Nangarhar, Kunar, Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul, Ghazni, Logar, Khost, Laghman, Herat, Uruzgan and Badghis provinces, causing heavy casualties to them. End.
