A nation of thieves... By Ashiq
23 October, 2013
I currently reside in Jahanzeb Block, Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore. I belong to a middle class family and am able to scarcely make both ends meet. On October 1, 2013, my father received a call on his mobile phone at 8:25 am; the caller wanted to rent out my father's shop, which is located at Scheme More, Iqbal Town. Another call from the same number was received at 9:07 am; the caller said he was near our house. After about 10 minutes, four persons in a white Toyota Corolla entered my house and, at gunpoint, looted cash, gold and other household items worth three million rupees. These were my whole life's assets. They remained in my house for about an hour and a half.
FIR no 1263/13PS Allama Iqbal Town has been filed but the police has adopted very slow and traditional methods of dealing with this incident. No data of incoming and outgoing calls has been collected so far. I wish for the media to intervene in the matter so that the criminals may be arrested and my looted goods may be recovered. I will be grateful to the paper forever. This letter is the only flash of hope for me because I have died economically. There is no justice in Pakistan. It is not a nation. Nobody bothers about any mishap that happens to others.
